Learning through challenges

I am getting ready for a challenging visit from a particular family.

I have been through all the usual bouts of anxieties and paranoia.

I’ve talked it through with other family members and it didn’t solve anything but made me realise that the person I struggle with is TRICKY, nothing to do with me and not something I can fix.

I’ve journalled about it and managed to separate it into MY triggers / fears versus the triggers / fears /difficulties of the family member involved.

Obviously I can only handle my OWN shit and just try not to get emotionally caught up in THEIR shit.

Trying to see this through a positive light, it is the hardest people who teach us the best lessons. All very well feeling confident, happy and cheerful, now I have an opportunity to learn how to handle myself (and my teamwork with my husband) in the best way in a difficult situation.

I came across this picture of my granny as a young woman so I’m going to try and hold onto her calm, pleasant, capable persona.
